Andrew Goodwin's Theory On Music

Andrew Goodwin's theory on music videos is a thoery which gives the analysis of music videos.
Andrew Goodwin states that there are three types of relations between the songs and videos.

Illustration
This is when the video relates to the lyrics used in the song.

Amplification
This is when the video adds a stronger affect on the lyrics, this is used in many videos.

Disjunction
This is when the video shows has no connection with the lyrics in the song, this is used in many videos.

Goodwin believes that the song is builds the video. This is done by having the artist in the video looking directly in to the camera whilst performing as a character and narrator in the video, which is a technique that grabs the audiences attention.
