Analysis of 3 Adverts

While making our adverts, we looked at different posters and advertisements for albums and tours, of bands similar to our own genre. Looking at the adverts has been a good way to look at the conventions carried through various bands/artists, and also some of the distinct differences that they use to sell themselves.

This first example is from Coldplay. Coldplay are an alternative rock and indie band, as is our artist, Mehmet Tarhan. I think that this is the sort of material I expected to see for a Coldplay advert. The album incorporates many of the conventions of the music industry. There are tour dates, sponsors, special guests, and the picture of themselves on the poster itself. The whole poster is in black and white, this is unlikely for posters, as you would want a colourful and vivid picture to jump out of the picture and captivate the target audience, but Coldplay chooses not to, and I think having it black and white is a good effect, this is generally what you would expect from a Coldplay poster.

The Arctic Monkeys have opted for some graphic art as the main focus of their poster, amply it is a monkey with a frosted effect on it. They use brown, black, white and some blue as their primary colours. The information they have on it is effective, they include a date, pricing information, company and production information.

Finally, Snow Patrol have created a similar poster to the Arctic Monkeys, they include a picture of a couple, tour dates, and other various pieces of key information.
